My 4-link install

Finally getting around to posting some pics.
I picked up an ART 4-link with bags for 88-98chev pickup off ebay. I had to shorten the bars an inch and made up some plates to mount to the frame. Did a C-notch and made up some boxing plates as well. The axle is only 2 5/8" dia and the kit is for a 3" axle so I cut up a 3" piece of tubing to make up the difference when attaching to the axle. I've got rebuilt calipers and turned rotors. The parking brake cables are from a late 80s vette and are a good length for the stock mounting spot.

I've got the lower airbag mounts on the axle just need the upper mounts as well as the shock and panhard mounted. Then mount the 3 gal. tank and valves.

Anyone need a set of 5" lowering leaf springs and a truck 12 bolt

I started when the weather was still cold and pretty quiet at work. So I want to get this done but don't want to rush it.

i would like to see a side pic when the truck is back on its wheels with the bed mounted and the bags deflated .
i'm in the process of bagging mine and like to see how mush the mini C notch you put in the frame lowers the truck totally

Re: My 4-link install

This is how its sat before

This was with the axle approx. 3" from the factory bump stops.
The ride height when finished should be about the spot where the axle touches the bump stops. With the bags deflated the rear end just about touches the bed floor...
The P.O had the front coil overs turned up about 1.5". so that should drop the front a bit more as well

I believe 60" for the 4x4 rear end
58" for the 2x4.. that is what Cal has in his.

Yea It has a MII front end. I've been watching shock waves on ebay but have not made a purchase yet. The PO had the coil overs cranked up so I put them back down. He also notched the frame to raise it for the MII front end so the front end sits higher as well. Seems silly as he also had lowering spindles in it but felt it was going to sit too low

Picked up a set of ralley wheels to paint yellow and try out the porta whites.
Been busy this week so I haven't had a chance to do any more work on her and it's starting to drive me crazy as alot of the other people in the area have their rides out.

Re: My 4-link install

Well started blasting my ralley rims. Found some neat hot rod trim rings that will show some of the yellow paint on the rims before the white walls start. The trim rings have about 4 rings on the inner edge. Also found a set of center caps with ribs that fit where the factory top hat centers go.

Finished all the welding and put on a coat of paint. Just need to plumb the brakes and hook up the parking brake cables. Also need to mount the tank and compressor.

Re: My 4-link install

Well I reworked the panhard bar and got the rims on today. Mounted the air tank and compressor. Bled the brakes and hooked up the parking brake. Installed the rear tires put it on the ground and went for a drive. When I got back I thought I'd better try the box on for clearance for the brackets on the steps. Have to cut out a small notch to clear the 4 link front brackets. Also found out you can't put a box that is 51" wide between two rear tires that are only 49.5" spacing. So I'll be checking out some spacers tomorrow. Here are a few more pictures...

I'm using a small center cap that I found on ebay:
Here's a front shot for you Daniel.
I'm happy with the porta whites. They sit flush with the tire.
