motor mounts

I would like to know what the right way of mounting a LS 1 motor and 700r trany in my 1981 chevy 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive. i just bought the LS 1 and I have been told I can use the original motor mounts with a adopter plate .
Does anyone know what the size and shape of this palte and what do I need to mount the trany.
please let me know. Thank you
