A good friend of mine had an awesome 66. His original 283 was gray also. We wondered why. I've read that Chevrolet engines were many different colors, depending upon year, application...

Oh...! BTW thatnks All the the awesome pictures. I have a 67 and 68 but really like the 60-66's!
