Re: 70 chevy cab roof lights

I have a 70 and 71 both with cab lights. Both 1/2 ton, both 4x4. I don't think rare is the right word.

Re: 70 chevy cab roof lights

uncommon back in the day, considerably more uncommon today.
1/2 ton is the least common, and one ton is quite common (being it was required on anything with dual rear wheels).

Re: 70 chevy cab roof lights

The 1 ton has raised dimples for the lights. My service manual says Subs and Panels had tear drop lights installed on flat roof panel.
I am still trying to figure out where the ICC harness that comes down the left pillar poat hooks up. ???

Re: 70 chevy cab roof lights

all pickups with the clearance/ID lights on top had the raised pads (69 - 72)
The wire hooks to the headlight switch

Re: 70 chevy cab roof lights

My CST/10 is a 1/2 ton 2wd and it has the factory cab lights with raised roof bases. I had never seen them in Alaska before I bought my truck.

Re: 70 chevy cab roof lights

1 Tons must of had a different switch because there is no provision for the cab light harness on aftermarket headlight swtches.

Re: 70 chevy cab roof lights

It is rare to see clearance lamps ordered on 10 & 20 series trucks. I would think the ones you see would most likely be on a truck that was spec'd and ordered by a customer.

Just hook the lamps up to a toggle switch. That's what I've done when adding them. I always added at least the three center lamps to the rear, too. Then you can do the trucker "thanks" when someone gives you the courtesy flash.

Re: 70 chevy cab roof lights

The factory cab light harness does plug into the aftermarket headlight switch. It goes in the unused slot in the headlight switch harness. After not finding one by feeling around, I pulled the swtch and I saw the light.
