Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

Can this sale be real? BIN for $7k

One-owner 1971 Chevrolet Pickup truck with original sales contract, warranty documents, and books. Purchased new in Califonia and kept here its entire life by the original owners. Extremely clean, zero rust, all body panels straight with great gaps. Low 98K original miles, runs and drives very well. Paint shines like glass. Registrations dating back to when the car was new, thereby documenting this as a one-owner truck. California has the most solid, rust-free classic cars and trucks in the world, and this one is a perfect example of that. Please provide your email address if you would like to see another 30 pictures.

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

I think 7K is a fair price for that truck. Very nice survivor.

A survivor that nice though, for (gulp) $7k? I'd have to see it in person before I bought it on the spot.

To me the color kills it other than that nice truck.....if it was a different color the price would go up 5k almost instantly is my opinion....

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

It ticks me off when the seller makes it sound like it is all original.
This truck has had a repaint, and not a very good one.

My other pet peeve is when they half-%$# paint the frame. Just looks bad in my opinion.

It would still be a great truck to have.

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

One owner? B.S. on that one. That license plate (remember LA Law ) was run from 83-87. It should have black/gold plates if it is a one owner 71.

Still looks nice. I don't like the color, but if there is no rust hiding underneath the paint I think it's not a bad deal.

I have to agree. There is overspray on the undernieth side of the bed. If it was the original paint the bed wouldn't have the dents in it and on the wheel wells, seems like it would have some scratches in the bed floor from being used, or are those the rare dent option wheel tubs??

Ad doesn't say anything about original paint that I see, just original documentation and 98k original miles. I have to agree about a bad repaint though, with the over spray and door strikers painted, letters on tailgate not painted in white. Still a nice truck! Also I wondered about the plates.

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

Hey hey! I like yellow although not as nice a yellow as mine. No but really the only way a truck pulls off yellow is if it's custom like mine and more of a chrome yellow. That yellow is funky. Clearly a shawdy maaco special.

Personally I would stay away as far as I could from that truck. It's being advertised as a survivor and you can see on the engine alone where it seems like the fire wall and aircleaner were sprayed with a spray can by someone who can't paint. Obviously they are completely misrepresenting the truck. I wouldnlt pay more than 1800 for it. You have to imagine it could be plastered with bondo and the engine might be a painted up 350 with 200k miles!

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

I'd say smoke the windows and put a nice black tonneau cover on the bed to break up the yellow and it would be sweet.

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

There's only one way to tell how true this is. And that is to buy it. Hello??????? He said it is all original and it is.....to me anyway. Owner never said it hasn't been repainted. "ALL ORIGINAL" can mean several things in my opinion. A repaint IMO doesn't disqualify a vehicle from being all original. If it has all the original equipment/options that it came with, i.e., motor, tranny, interior, wheels, rear end, metal, etc it is original. Now this is just my opinion before all you truck gods go a verbally jump me to the point of oblivion. What if the truck had a repaint 20 years ago, so what. A neighbor of mine has a 69 GTO that has had one repaint and has had the front seats recovered but the paint is the same paint code and the interior is the same black vinyl. Bumpers, metal, motor, tranny, rear end, etc are all the original equipment. To me that is all original. He has the original bill of sale with protect-o-plate, all books and manuals, etc. Many people cannot supply this type of documentation.

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

Oh, I guess I thought it was supposed to be an original paint job. My bad. Still not a one owner with the lack of black plates. Black CA plates are usually associated with one owner or very early CA registered very very clean original cars. I've had one once and it was a super original unmolested impala and it did sport the original paint.

Assuming the truck doesn't have rust and the engine doesn't need a rebuild immediately it would make a great daily driver for that price.

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

A slight lowering kit, seat-cover, window tint and maybe some rally wheels would make a world of difference!

Maybe they stopped driving it a while and got new plates when they started again

Re: Ebay: '71 Chevrolet C-10

Is that the orginal dash bezel? I didn't think 71's had the turn indicators located in the center gauge. Also, note the masking tape holding the door seal rubber..(kind of tacky). Just some things that don't add up to $6995...
