spring questions
I am starting to gather the parts I need for the 4x4 conversion on my 67. I'm going to use a divorced205 and a Dana44 front axle. I'm going to keep the trailing arms and coils in the rear. I want the truck to be stock height, for a factory 4x4. All the builds I have read about put the trailing arms on top of the axle. Was this for lift or was it to match the height of the leaf springs when they were added to the front? Also what leaf springs can I use on the front? Do I have to find 67-72 leaves or will something else work? 67-72 4x4 trucks are non existent around here so a parts donor is out of the question.

Re: spring questions
I can see flipping the rear axle for a number of reasons. Either way, new spring perches will have to be welded to the axle. I believe CPP sells aftermarket spring perches for the 67-72 pick-ups with trailing arms.
If you just used springs to lift the trailing arms, your pinion angle would go out of whack pretty quickly. Flipping the axle under the arms will also give back some of the ground clearance that would be lost by just lifting the trailing arms themselves. Either way, I can see you needing to get an adjustable panhard rod, as the length will change when you relocate the axle. You might negate this by dropping the attach point on the frame. But adjustable will be easier, either way. Many suppliers for this, as they are common in dropped applications. As for the front springs; I have no real answer for you on that, maybe calling someone like DIY4x, or Offroad Designs, and asking them could yield answers from experience with your particular model. For simplicity sake, I would go with a set of year specific springs myself. They shouldn't cost any more, and would readily accept the necessary hardware (shackles, hangers, etc.) that you'll have to find/buy. Just seems like the least painful installation to me.

Re: spring questions
Thanks for the response. I'm not planning on doing anything with the rear axle if I dont have to.
