It's a direct bolt on...but I don't think the hood lines up with the newer grills

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood

You have to remove the grill lip, its the chrome piece that mounts on top of the grill that fills the gap for the 69-72 hoods. Fenders will be the same. The grills do have some differences through all years, but should work. Please correct me if I am wrong gentleman of the board. My 70 came with a 68 front end and I converted it back right. I had to get a lip to close the hood gap. Good Luck on your pictures.

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood

Here is my hood now with the lip circled for you. You can barely see my red circle, but it is the part under the hood and the GMC letters, thats the lip. You will have to change your eyebrows too. The 67-68 truck eyebrows were thinner. They are what goes on the front of each fender finishing the trim option of the lip. Lips are normally rived, but I have seen them bolted also. The eyebrows should pull right off unless someone put screws in them to hold them on. Hope this helps ya.

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood

Here is a better look. You remove that lip and that 67-68 hood will mate perfect with the front grill.

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood

Here is an example of a 68 grill with no lip. What you do see is the hood trim that comes on the 68 hoods. Notice the different, skinnier eyebrows also. This is what your truck will look like with with a 68 hood and proper eyebrows.

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood

There is a different grille top bar that you are going to need that is only for the 67-68 GMC, otherwise there will be a gap between the hood and gille. Also, going to need a new hood latch assembly. i just did this to my 70.

Re: 69-72 GMC with 67-68 hood

I am almost done this on my '72 Blazer, I cut about 1 1/2 from the hood leading edge then welded the '72 inner to the '68 hood.
