Re: E brake

Do you have the crossmember with the e-brake linkage in place?

Here is a link of what your looking for: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=379268
A place to buy: http://www.aspenautoaz.com/60-66-chevy-truck-parts.html
" 1963-65 Emegency brake pivot crossmember complete $100.00 "
The crossmember is riveted to the frame rails so getting it out is a chore. You can use (I think) 7/16" grade 8 fasteners to put it back in.
If you want to go aftermarket here is a link with info on that: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=562185

Are you set on keeping it factory? I used Lokar universal cables and they were super easy to set up.

Are you looking for the crossmember and the linkage or just the linkage?

Re: E brake

So I have the cables from both drums, to the plate in the middle, complete. But I don't have the x-member or any of the parts along with that. Then from the front, I have the lever in the cab, and the cable down towards the middle from there... Will the lokar lever replace everything in the front, and connect right up to the 2 cables in the back? And do you have a link for the best one to use? I don't care about keeping it original, I just want the safety of the emergency brake! Thanks for any help

Re: E brake

The linkage can be fabbed fairly easily. I have a cross member with the anchor point for the linkage if you want. If you cover the ride, it's yours.

Re: E brake

But don't I still need the x member to mount it to? The turbo 400 tranny takes up the whole area of that member right now.. wouldn't it be easier just to run a Lokar setup from the cab to the existing cables I have?

Let me get a pic tomorrow and see if it's what you need.

Re: E brake

Here is what I have. one is an auto x member and Im guessing the other is a manual. Not sure what the Lokar set up looks like. It may be easier than returning to stock.

Re: E brake

This is what I used: http://www.lokar.com/product-pgs/ebr...ke-cables.html

It connects to the pull handle cable.

Re: E brake

So the bracket connecting the 2 cables just bolts to the stock pull handle, and the cables connect to the stock cables that would normally be connected to the x-member?

Here is how mine looks. I just installed a new front cable (connects e-brake lever to Lokar cables) as it broke last week. The Lokar cables run along the trailing arms and connect to brakes like factory. Super simple!

Re: E brake

I too have an extra stock crossmember out of a '63 if you need it (Like 63 GenIII)

The setup I did is like BackPayne's, except I'm using an electric E-Stopp instead of a manual front cable.

If you need custom cables made, I had good results using these guys:

http://www.controlcables.com/

good luck.

Re: E brake

So payne, i can connect that lokar cable to the original lever, but then run it all the way to the brakes?? Or can I use the original rear linkage and run it to this lokar setup?

Re: E brake

The cable from the handle that runs through the firewall connects to the Lokar setup, which runs to the brakes.
