Re: BBrendal's 1972 K5 build thread

Nice blazer, How far are going with the build? It seem that there is no end sometimes. my 72 is medium blue & white, its torn into 1000 parts. it was on the back burner compared to other projects they are done and sold and blazer is number one and the build has started!!! I think I will start my own thread as soon as I get the pictures figured out. One more thing I didn't think they had
IN-OUT in Chicago???? (Attenna cup topper on the car).

I'm doing a frame off on the blazer and I know what you mean it seams it gets a little out of hand on how far to take it!! I want a nice straight clean paint job but I know it will come back outstanding and I wont take it offraoad!! Good talking with you.

It came from New Mexico. It is nice and straight just very dusty. Im going to paint it the original blue with blue interior. I was toying with the idea of hugger orange but I think I should keep it the original color. No sure if Im going to keep the swing out exterior spare tire or not though.

Re: BBrendal's 1972 K5 build thread

I am thinking of possibly staying with the white interior intead of switching to blue. It is a highlader but Im thinking of going with the white seats with the black houdstooth. I know you have to be a little more careful with the white seats but is it a total pain in the a$$ to keep looking good? If I do a blue int its going to be the blue vinyl seats. So my questions are...

1 Does white demand alot of up keep?
2 Blue vinyl or white hounds tooth interior?
3 Keep the rear swing away tire carier or lose it?

Any help, thoughts, ideas or experiences are really appreaciated.

Re: BBrendal's 1972 K5 build thread

#3-keep the tire carrier! mine came with the original carrier, just need to reinstall it. Also in the first pic it looks like you have one of those sweet pop up camper vents installed in the top! Is It? Mine had two installed by the original owner, I was so mad I ended up selling the top...Still kicking myself for that but living in SoCal the top has always been off and never needed it anyway...Might go with the new style soft topper some day.P.S. white interior is a pita but looks great when new! Nice BLAZER!!!

Re: BBrendal's 1972 K5 build thread

I`d guess that you aren`t going to be driving this in dirty, just got off work, nasty cloths, if it were me I`d keep the white highlander option in tack, might be a little too plaid for some, but it`s original and cool as all hell in my book, there`s my 2 cents.

Re: BBrendal's 1972 K5 build thread

The highlander plaid material is available last I checked at SMS auto fabrics, 350 South Redwoood St., Canby, OR. 97013, I sent off for a free sample and was absolutely impressed with the sample they sent me, $89 a yard, by the way I dig your Blazer and look forward to the build, Jack.

Re: BBrendal's 1972 K5 build thread

Well my truck made it to the body shop today. I should have it back in 4 to 6 weeks. Im still not sure on the color to do. I like the blue and I like to keep things original but that hugger orange sure looks good. Any opinions on changing color?
