Decided to share the work so far on the chassis,







step notch for the rear.

Porterbuilt bag plates being installed, he gives you the bolt holes for the sway bar for the alignment.




Then i used a transfer punch to align the rest once i bolted it with the sway bar holes.




Then just drill and bolt it all up.

bag mounts run along the front of t he notch, i will post more pics of the rear frame later tonight. the rear section is not completely finished.

update: just got the frame and porterbuilt parts back from powdercoating. It was raining in houston so the frame already got its first wash.

If you want to get parts powdercoated in houston this is the place to go. I took them a total of 38 pieces:

Frame, rearend housing, complete front porterbuilt package, upper and lower control arms, bag plates, valve mounting brackets, u bolt and mounting plates for rear, panhard bar, trailing arms, trailing arm crossmember, air tank, and a bunch of mounting brackets and tabs. 800.00. no tax. cash.

The color option was any color as long as it was black. It is a polyester tgic powder i think he called it. I hope it was the right stuff for the application.

Got the trailing arm crossmember together tonight, i used 7/16 bolts instead of 3/8. It seemed that the 7/16 bolts took up more slack in the hole then 3/8, it was not for strength.

i used kp components axle kit for the bag brackets and shock brackets. the bag plates for the a arms are from porterbuilt. i stitched up the trailing arms every 8 inches or so with the welder to keep them from seperating. i wish it would stop raining here in houston so i can start throwing parts on the frame......

I hear ya, the rain is gettin old around here. Almost everyday for over 2 weeks! Your frame and other parts look great, they did a really good job on the powder coating. What part of H-Town are you in?

I am in N.W houston, 610 and 290 intersection. Yea, i am dropping the diff off at pyle bros. tommorrow to get assembled. It will go together real fast once i get the diff. back. I still need to install the a arm bushings i got from energy, i am actually scared to do this and hope i dont chip the arms installing them.

Cool. I am out 290 @ 1960, well that's were I am building my truck, although I live in Spring by the Woodlands. As for chippin them, you can use a razor blade to cut the powdercoat at an angle and it will save you from that headache. I do powdercoating on small parts and have done that in the past for the same reason. I am subscribed to the build, can't wait to see what you have in store for us!

Hahahaha. Yeah David Cycles by Sterling Body Shop, not to far from the shop. Closest intersection to us is Cypress North Houston and Eldridge. I grew up in the Heights when it was the hood. Keep the pics rollin, I may get some good ideas!!!!

got the upper and lower control arms together, the lowers were a pita, one was a little tweaked so i had to get the porta power out and do work. show ya guys some assembly.

well one picture will not come up, it shows where i sanded the powder off of the end the bushing rides on. it is pretty straight foward on the uppers, i will not even show what i had to do to get the lowers in.

got the bushings from summit racing, they are from energy suspensions. the are the poly. bushings. i hope they dont make noise when it is all said and done. i coated them with the grease that comes with them, price was to good to pass up over the rubber ones.
