BTW, the existing 6 is an automatic

Is that an issue or will I have to replace the transmission as well?

The 6 cylinder and the V8 share the same bellhousing pattern.

Honestly, there are several ways to skin this cat, depending on how anal you are.

The easy way is to set the V8 right in on the 6 cylinder mounts and use long water pump accesories, which are real common and cheap.

The harder way, but technically more stock and correct, is to use V8 frame mounts and short water pump accesories.

You may find a search very helpful, as plenty has been written on here about this same thing.

If your search doesn't asnwer your questions, ask, and we'll help you with them.

I've personally done several inline 6 to V8 swaps, including my most current project.
