Transporting a box

I am looking for ideas, pics, thoughts about transporting a short stepside box. I will probably be strapping it to the back of fullsize pick up.

Upside down?

crossways to the box?

half in the box?

Thanks

Re: Transporting a box

I think I'd get a couple sheets of plywood and lay them over the bed rails of the delivery truck. Reinforce them with a could 2x4s so they don't bow, or slide apart.
Then I'd set the step-side box on top of it, upside down, and strap everything down. Maybe cut access holes in the plywood to run straps to any tiedowns in the bed.

The reason I'd do it that way is because the plywood will distribute the weight across the top of the bed rails of the transporting truck, so it doesn't dent them.

Going sideways across the bed might hang it out too far on both sides.

Re: Transporting a box

There is a thread someplace about it. I have done it both ways. But I would use 3-4 2x4 across the truck and the box upside down.

Re: Transporting a box

why not just use a flat-bed trailer. Much easier on your truck that way.

Upside down either crossways or parallel with a few 2x4's across.

My thoughts exactly.

2 x 4’s upside down.

Thanks all

Yep couple 2x4s, some 2x2s to put in the stake pockects to help keep it from sliding. 7.5 hrs on interstate, no problems except for the weird looks.

Re: Transporting a box

I should apologize , it's available to anyone who would need it. I'm never here to use it so it needs a workout.
