97 GMC Sierra Heater Core Replacement
Well its starting to cool off now, over the summer my heater core went out well I just by passed it since it was like 100 out. Well now its time to replace, I have a good manual and a idea on how to go about this but does anyone have any tips on this. I heard there is away to drop the ac box and do it without pulling the dash, if this is true how would I do this or any other tricks to save time? Thanks for any advice anyone has to give.

Re: 97 GMC Sierra Heater Core Replacement
I replaced mines in my 1995 Silverado without dropping the dash back in 2008. It was tedius with these big monky grip palms of mines but I got her done. The hardest part was getting the little screws out of the AC/heat air box but after pulling the drivers seat and using a little mirror to locate all of them things went rather smooth after that.

Re: 97 GMC Sierra Heater Core Replacement
Ohhh I see well I had to drop the box once this summer cause it was leaking everywhere, now its going to be a pain cause all the silicone but I can still get it loose. Okay so after I get the box loose what would I do next, I'm only 18 so im new to mechanics but I managed to do the intake gasket on this thing so I think I can pull this job off to. Again thanks for the advice!

Re: 97 GMC Sierra Heater Core Replacement
I didn't have to totally drop the box to access the heater core in my 95. After removing the screws in the air box I had just barely enough room to manuver the panel cover and remove & install a new core.
