71-72 GMC Sierra Grande 1500 Hubcaps

Hey guys quick question, are these the stock caps that would have came in a 71-72 GMC Sierra Grande 1500 ?

Are the steelies 15 or 16 inch ?

Re: 71-72 GMC Sierra Grande 1500 Hubcaps

I believe those would have been the upgraded PO3 caps (standard would have been painted), and I also think the centers (the concave circle that contains the "gmc") is supposed to be black. But, yes, correct caps for 69-72 1/2 ton truck that had the PO3 hub cap option. These may also be from 73+. Anyway, they are for 15" wheels (steelies) - confirm by measuring the diameter, should be 10.5" approx. IF (and I can't quite tell in the pic) they are 12"-ish, then they are for 3/4 ton 16" and 16.5" wheels.

Not unless they measure about 12" across the back from side to side

Do you guys have a link to what stock hubcaps looked like on 3/4 ton 72 GMC, or did they only run steelies no caps ?

Re: 71-72 GMC Sierra Grande 1500 Hubcaps

All 71/72 3/4 tons came with hubcaps, either painted or chrome. No wheelcovers. Those 1/2t caps you show work with any diameter rim with 5 or 6 lug pattern. The 3/4t caps look the same, but the contours vary slightly. The centers are convex and the caps are visually larger in diameter.

big help hutch. so, frijolito, you could make it look like a 72 cap by painting the center black. but it will not fit your 3/4 ton 8 lug wheel, sorry.

8 lug 16 1/2 inch wheels . With GMC caps, the guy said these are the stock wheels that came off his 72 3/4 ton

Re: 71-72 GMC Sierra Grande 1500 Hubcaps

if you got 4 wheels AND caps for 120, you got a GREAT deal. Yes, 16.5" dia wheels were stock on 72 3/4 ton trucks. The caps you have would be the standard version.
