How to tweak my bed

I put different box sides on my '68 long fleetwood and used the old tailgate. It fit so I wasn't concerned when I bought a new Tri-Plus tailgate. I'm 1/2" off corner to corner, and as you can see by the blurry pic, the tailgate sticks out 1/2". What is the best way to tweak it? It's all put together, wood and everything. Thinking about bumping the long side into a tree. Bad idea?

Is there any ecidence that the bed is tweaked or i am guessing it is the inferior quality tailgate. Take some measurements diagonally to be sure. If the bed looks good, my advice would be to get your money back on the repro tailgate and hunt for a good used one. I can't see screwing with am oem bed to fit Chinese parts.

Corner to corner (diagonal). 1/2" off.

The measurement is off a 1/2" corner to corner, to square the bed it only needs to move a 1/4" then and the gate will still not fit. Is the gate hitting the inside post? That's the problem I had with mine, nothing to adjust Nate

If I want to square it, what's the best way to do it? It's not hitting the post.

Re: How to tweak my bed

If you have a steel floor there's probably not much wiggle room. If your floor is wood, I think you'll have to loosen all lot of the fastener's. I'd hook a ratchet strap from the front corner to the opposite side rear corner so that it will be on an angle. You would hook the strap on the side that the measurement is longer from when you cross measured. I would hook the strap down low to the bed floor.

Excellent idea. You won't believe what happened. I was going to give the tree a try, and the tailgate fell open while backing up (Before I was up to the tree). Got out and slammed it back shut, and wallahhh! Perfect fit. I don't know what happened, but I'll take it.
