Kefers 68 Panel Project

Over 12 years ago I loaded the back of my panel truck with just about all the parts I would need to change over to a big block, automatic, power steering, power brake truck.Started cleaning out the back and found this tilt column with this degree sticker on it. Anybody seen this before? Will start a build thread here soon. I have also collected a 69 4x4 frame and 1 ton axles from a military CUCV. Thanks for the info in advance.

Welcome to the forum!

Your stash reminded me of me when I had my Suburban in storage for years, and all the while I would add good parts I would find here and there to the storage unit.

So are you planning on turning your panel into a 4x4?

What's the decal say before 'wheel angle'? Coupler? Counter? Control? Might help determine what it was for. Can't say I've ever seen one of those...

Re: Kefers 68 Panel Project

Thanks for the welcomes. Yes I am planning on making the panel a 4x4 with the 69 suburban frame and axles, transmission and transfer case from a 1986 1 ton military truck. It says CONTROL on the sticker.

Re: Kefers 68 Panel Project

I dont know for sure, but I would guess it was for measuring worn out parts in the front end, I have had to "herd" old trucks down the road. How far the wheel moves left to right would depend how bad the wear is,and how URGENT the need to "look into it" is, before something breaks.
