Um.. "not concerned about power" bwahahaha That is one nice unicorn. I did not like my turn downs because they were like driveway blowers. But I have to say again - nice job! It's Oozing class from every angle.

Re: Finally found my Unicorn

I've never understood the white-lettered tires with hubcaps look but I really dig everything else and especially your truck as a whole! Very nice! One of my favorite colors too! I'm sure it'll be a handful off the line! Lol

Thank you. They're not for everyone and nothing I figured Id do 5 years ago. But after having them on for a while I really like them.

Thank you. It will eventually have tailpipes but I don't know what the immediate future holds as fas as suspension. Im sure I will end up with coilovers on all 4 corners. I don't want to have redo it later.

Re: Finally found my Unicorn

Well its done for now. I had some issues with Vintage Air Frontrunner not grounding due to the coating. I had to pull it all back off and sand the contact points. I had the module in the HEI go out as well. Its a MSD digital unit and i assume it was a victim of the ground issues I was having. But drove the truck yesterday for about a hour and it was awesome. I added QA1 adj shocks to all 4 corners as well. I never thought Id do anything but a LS swap into a vehicle but I do like the BB. I have a 70 Camaro that I have a built LS3 going into next. But it will be a 3-4 year build. Wish I could post a video on here.

Got the truck finished and went to C10's in the Park. The truck was well received.

Re: Finally found my Unicorn

Making a few small changes to the interior. Ordered a new steering wheel from Con2R. They make some awesome wheels that you configure yourself. Got my buddy Cato form Cato's Custom Upholstery doing a new leather seat on a Snowden frame. Going to cover dash pad in leather to match steering wheel also. All the colors will remain the same and not doing anything with the structure of the seat. I want to keep it factory looking just nicer material. The pic of emblem started out as a Chevelle horn button. I sanded the colors out of it and painted to match my truck. It will be used as the horn button in the new wheel.

Some of the rear gear durability depends upon how much traction can be gotten.......

What are your horse power limitation of a 12 bolt pickup rear end? Super stockers run 8 second quarter mile with them. I do know that one pinion bearing is different on a pickup 12 bolt...In class racing such as Super Stock, you are allowed to run any make of rear gear under your car, Many run 12 bolts because they weigh less...

What drive shaft???

I really like it, would not change anything, at least appearance wise!!!

Cato's custom upholstery, the same Cato that's on Iron Resurrection? His work looks top notch! I'd love to see some more pics of the engine compartment with the 6 in it if you have any more. I'd like to compare it to mine.

Well, he did say that he added a posi. I can only assume this is an attempt at getting more traction. I am not disputing the strength of the ring/pinion gears of a 12 bolt. But Super Stockers are probably a bit lighter than this truck. Heavy truck plus big torque plus posi equals big stress on rear end. Have you ever seen a truck 12 bolt spin a tube? Its not pretty. When it hooks up good, the center section can spin on the axle tubes. Ask me how I know. This is not just my experience. Its common knowledge, at least in the off-roading world. I see a lot of time, effort, and money going into this beautiful truck. A couple more pesos spent on a Dana 60 seems like a good move for added reliability and peace of mind. That's all I'm saying

Thanks for your knowledge. I know about the tube spinning deal. The tubes need to be welded to the center section on any serious HP vehicle.

I'd likely vote for a 9", myself, IF I was changing...The Farm Truck has a 9" under it...I looked! THis was before they all became movie stars! LOL AND he was running a 2 piece drive shaft!!!

Re: Finally found my Unicorn

9 inches are great units no doubt. Tubes already fully welded to center section from factory. No issues with welding cast iron to steel like a 12 bolt. But I'm betting that the farm truck runs a "slightly" modified version!
