Mustang II install on 54

Hey guys. I am wanting to upgrade my front suspension to the mustang II . Love my truck but the front is still all stock. Does anyone know if this can be done without pulling the motor and front clip? Also does anyone know around what this will cost? Thanks guys

Tci on my 54. Love it. About $2400. Could install with everything on truck but would be much harder

Trying to install an MII suspension without removing the front sheet metal labor-wise would be like spending a dollar to save a dime.

I rather have to agree with him on that. While you should be able to do one of the bolt in Speedway or similar units without taking the nose off you will work three times as hard to do it plus you won't be able to do a lot of cleanup on the frame if that is important to you.

The big problem is going to be marking and drilling the holes you need in the frame. The sheet metal is going to be in the big middle of the way of drilling those holes.

The two hours or so you save by not removing the front sheet metal will be eaten up maneuvering around the sheet metal.

Reading though the pfd instructions I was reading the second item on the list about removing the steering and suspension it stated that you need to leave the front spring mounts in the frame to measure from. That piece ALSO is what the bumper brackets bolt to and what lines them up correctly when the bolts go though the holes in the cast piece. I see far too many guys putting MII front ends or similar front ends on AD trucks that remove those and then have a fight getting the bumper lined up. That is front and read for those pieces.

2. Remove all the suspension and steering components from the frame.
Leave the front spring shackle mounts that are riveted in the frame. They
are used for a measuring point for finding your axle centerline.

That came from this instruction sheet that I would suggest reading a couple of times before deciding to buy the kit. Maybe a half dozen times. Very simple and a hand full of wrenches and a good 1/2 inch drill get the job done. https://static.speedwaymotors.com/pdf/91044754.pdf

Much easier to remove front clip. I also removed engine/trans as well when installing MII. Much easier finding axle centerline, as well as overall ease of moving around with it all off and out.
