I couldn't find any so i just cranked them down until i felt it was sufficient but would feel a lot better knowing they were torqued correctly.
I did use the prothane motion control stuff. At first it did look higher but after repeated toqure downs and a few thousand mil it settled down. Did you cut the old tube bracket from the old bushing like it says in the instructions. I first tried to install them without doing that step and it didn't work out so well.

Re: It''s about TIME!

I love finding bad body work......LOVE IT!!!! I just sanded about a 1/4 inch of bondo at its thickest off of my passenger fender. They re-skinned the whole fender in bondo!?!? Over the original paint! Then painted it again! hear is what it looked like after I got fed up with sanding off bondo. also welded up some holes, there was one of the giant CB antenna holes cut into the top of the fender. Its as big as a 1/2 dollar! and I also found some rust.....

Yeah i cut them down to the length specified in the instructions i think it was 3 3/4. Sounds like i just need to put some miles on them and retorque them a few times. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: It''s about TIME!

Hey at least they didn't drill the hole straight through your cab for the CB antenna like one of the previous owners did to mine.

Re: It''s about TIME!

So i decided to try and get my doors to line up correctly and MAN was that a task! so apparently the previous owner manged to get the door hit so hard that it pushed the bottom hinge about 2 inch foreword and the bolts bent the metal around the cab! you can kinda see what it looks like in the first pic. It took me and a buddy the better part of 5 hrs to get it back in the right spot! but its there now and I'm happy with it!

Re: It''s about TIME!

Today i got a but up my butt about my bed! I was tired of looking at rusty truck bed so i ran a quick wire brush over it and i sprayed some primer over it. I'm happy with it! I ran out of paint before i was able to finish though......

You are going to town, nice!

Top Banana sells fenders for about $85. You might burn up that much in sandpaper!

I like the blue Paint, you going to keep it? Looks like "hawaiin blue" with "syline blue" inserts.

So im tired of chasing my tail and going back over all of my mistakes when i built it, im pulling the motor and im going to take my time going over it and fixing things! more to come on that and my new tilt steering column. For now i have put new wiper/heater/head light switches in and i made some door panels. They arnt professional but i think they look good.

Re: It''s about TIME!

so i got my new tilt steering column in, it was a fight but i got it! there was a problem with my steering shaft not matching up with new steering column so i had to go get a new one from a junk yard. hears the link to that convo. Also really stoked that the new key and lock cylinder i got FOR FREE from a buddy is original chevy equipment! brand new keys and all that was bought back in the 70's.

Re: It''s about TIME!

Also i redid my gauge modification so that i can completely remove the cluster now. before all the wires were directly connected to the gauges and i could only pull out the cluster out about 6 inches. Also added a light so that i could see the gauges at night! also sprayed the backs of my gas and speedo gauges to make them more reflective.

Re: It''s about TIME!

I have a buddy with a 79 silverado that we have been slowly but surly fixing up. He is looking for the MPG he can get out of is so we have done a few things to help. so far we have put new ceramic coated headers, electric fans and rebuilt the quadrajet. When he bought it it was all together and painted, a later year step side bed, bellteck drop all around and it has a new exhaust. He's put new door panels, dash pad and gauge lens on it and it looks awesome. hear are a few pics.

Re: It''s about TIME!

well ive been doing a lot of work lately! So hear is the start, when i put the motor together in the first place i broke a timing cover bolt off. It was on the bottom and i put about half a tube of gasket maker on it and prayed that it sealed! it did until about a month ago, i had a leak that would not quit so pulled the front assembly off and started to work. got a new timing cover to. after 3 days of left hand drill bits, 2 easy outs (both broke) and A LOT of bad words it came out and the new one went on.

Re: It''s about TIME!

After all that was said and done i decided to get my radiator checked out, the coolant recovery tang got pulled out and it needed fixing. plus it had a few leaks. After the radiator shop had it for a few days they called me back and said that it would be about a $400 fix, they would have to recore it and fix both cracked tanks. but they had a plastic aluminum 1.25inch core for $200.... can ya guess what i chose? so now that i had the new radiator i figured that his was time time to put in my fans, we just put close to the same set up in my buddy's 79. So after some wiring and a few new thermostats i got the new fans in and they work GREAT!

Re: It''s about TIME!

Well its been a LONG time since i have posted something about the truck, we have moved, had a kid, bought a house, changed jobs multiple times! My pour truck has been a little neglected over the last few years, she developed an oil leak near out of what i thought was the rear main seal. Finally got tired of dumping oil EVERYWHERE and pulled the engine and trans (needed to wash the trans anyway.) So after the motor was pulled i found out that no my rear mail seal is fine, somehow i took a very large divot out of my rear main cap and now i need to figure out what to do with it! Here are a few other pics of the engine and my parts pile. So happy to finally have a shop to do this work in, but a little sad to see her all torn apart again.

Re: It''s about TIME!

Looks like the old brain is getting some new pistons. I just talked with my local machinist and purchased some flat tops. Hoping to bring the compression from about 7:1 to 9:1. That should help me get into a little more trouble!
