Re: Slide in camper pics

Sorry for posting my 72 in this thread but I couldn't help myself, I love the look of slide-in's on GM pick-ups. This camper below ran on my 94 Chevy until I sold the truck, that truck had over 300,000 miles and was still running strong. Still have the camper but it's alittle heavy for my 1500.

Re: Slide in camper pics

The wide rear wheels have been on the truck since the 70's, they are Kelsey Hayes 9.75x16.5's, the fronts are the original split rim 16.5 as is the spare. This camper has been with this truck since 1978 (the camper is a 71).Stockton wheel now remakes the KH 9.75x16.5 wheels but the tires are not cheap! The wheels are extra heavy duty for campers, I think they come wider too. I added the front mounted spare, My grandfather had a blue '72 Camper special and it had a front mounted spare so I put the spare up there on this one.

Thanks, I found this truck for sale on craigslist a few years ago. I was looking around and couldn't believe my eyes, it was only 10 miles from my house. The guy that was selling it had stored it since 1991. It was his dads and after his father was killed at a RR crossing in 1991 it was hard for him to part with it. The truck just sat in the son's pole barn all those years. He was moving into a smaller house so he was forced to sell. You couldn't ask for a better set up. 67,000 mile truck and a nice Cayo (Avion) camper. I was a "Happy Camper"!

Here are some pictures of the spare tire mount on my IHC, it was done the same way as the 72 Chevy. Hope this helps. I decided to put a front mounted hitch on the trucks, that way it could be removed very quick and easy.

Re: Slide in camper pics

I'm not selling mine, there was a 95 Chevy duelly 4x4 with a Cayo camper on it for sale in Chicago on Craigslist. It might still be for sale. Type in Cayo. Or you can contact Cayo Incorporated in Watervliet, Michigan and talk to Chuck, his dad Bill built these campers and they restore them, he may be able to help you. phone 269-463-5068 Below is a picture of the interior of mine and Cayo inc... in Watervliet
