4 spd shifter play

So I have a lot of play on my 4 spd manual shifter. How do I tighten it up?

Pull the lever out & weld the shift pin to the lever.

X2 Yes weld the finger that rides on your shift forks to the housing on the stick where it's pinned. If it's a SM465, granny low, also check the 2 roll pins on the top of the trans. housing the shifter sits in.

He's talking about up by the ball, which can need attention. But the finger can be welded also. Did mine on my NP435 and made a world of difference.
