yopu probally have a vacum leak some where or look on the pass side of your carb the high idle linkage maybe jammed up...but check the leaks first

Re: 350 wont idle down

Need to retard it some. Do you have timing light? If you're using an hei distributor probably want to be running at around 10-12 degrees btd for starters.

What carb do you have. If it's a quadrajet you may have a linkage adjustment off as mentioned above. When you turn it off, look down the throat with a flashlight. The butterflies should be almost completely closed.

Re: 350 wont idle down

Q-jets will do that when the throttle shaft gets worn. Try taking the return spring off the lower part of the bracket & rigging it up so it pulls back from the throttle rod or cable.

Re: 350 wont idle down

Timing and/or vacuum leak. A little carb cleaner around the edges of the intake will tell you if that's the case...
