Tank filler and vent

The Jeep tank I have supported between the frame rails has a 1" fill nipple and a 3/4" vent nipple. The vent nipple currently has a rubber plug on it. Seems awfully small for the fill but that's what it came with. Am I correct in assuming that the two get connected in the fill pipe? My plan is to cruise the junk yard looking for something suitable for either up through the box into a rear corner or out the side. Advice and suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not offering this as a suggestion that you buy one here but you can dial in by vehicle type and figure out what works for your installation. This can make junkyard shopping more of locate & remove versus a wander & guess exercise.

I didn't realize these filler, vent and cap assemblies were so common. Got one off first truck I looked at which was a Dodge.

I was in the process of mounting the filler pipe to the truck body until the question of static electricity entered my head. Is it necessary to keep it isolated like mounting it in plastic or some other non-conductive material?

She runs! Left to do, mount two fire extinguishers on the saddles where the tank in the cab used to sit, pretty up the fill pipe area, find a 90 ohm fuel gauge.
