What is it?

I removed this from my 1984 inline 6 and am not sure what it is, or what it does. An emissions thing maybe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: What is it?

A.I.R. injection air tubes. Allows fresh air to complete combustion before the tailpipe.

I am old enough to say this

Back in the day everyone cut these and crimped them.

Now everyone wants them back, so it looks Original.

Re: What is it?

There is or was a belt driven air pump that connected to those pipes. The AIR system is only needed if you are in a strict emissions area and your truck is still subject to emissions inspections.

Re: What is it?

Yep, the air pump is still there. I do live in a DEQ strict area so I'm planning on keeping it. Any idea what type of metal the tube is made of?
