Re: Rock Bands / Concerts You Seen
Classic ones: Saw Elton John in '74, on the Good By Yellow Brick Road tour, in LA at the Forum; he opened in a big yellow bird costume, on the piano, playing Funeral for a Friend; Pink Floyd, on the Dark Side of the Moon Tour, the Forum, 1973; Jethro Tull in '73 (the year Thick as a Brick came out); Eric Clapton in '74 in L.A. Really wish I saw (in that time period) the Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Bros, and The Marshall Tucker Band. If only you could go back in time...

Have been to quite a few shows over the years. First concert I went to was the biggest, The Beatles- Balboa Stadium, San Diego. Also saw in no particular order:
Beach Boys Doobie Bros. Santana Neil Young Stephen Stills Poco Marshall Tucker Band Jimmy Buffet Alice Cooper Eric Clapton War Tower of Power Boz Scaggs Elvin Bishop Spirit Canned Heat Johnny Winter ZZ Top John Mayal Willie Nelson The Temptations The Four Tops Average White Band Jefferson Starship Buddy Guy Booker T & the MG's Robert Cray Buddy Miles Joe Cocker There are lots more but they don't come to mind right now. Needless to say, I am a big time music fan...

Re: Rock Bands / Concerts You Seen
My first concert was The Cars in 1982. I made a fake ID to see Buddy Guy in a bar when I was 18. I later met him at his blues club in Chicago - real easy guy to chat with.
Ozzy with Motley Crue opening, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Yes, Deep Purple, Knight Ranger, Santana, Allman Bros, Albert King, Doc Watson, Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Peter Rowan, David Grisman, Elton John, Tom Petty, Beck, Wiz Khalifa, Fela, Jimmy Cliff, Phish, Jerry Garcia Band, Burning Spear, David Lindley, Darrel Scott, Tim O'Brien, Grateful Dead x45 (plus iterations thereof), Phish, Bob Dylan, Stevie Ray Vaughn x 2, Steve Miller, Sting....there are many others I'm blanking on at the moment Now I remember: John Prine, Joe Satriani, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Todd Snider, Robert Earle Keen, Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Sam Bush, Neil Diamond, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Ron Carter, Bruce Hornsby, Michael Hedges, Neko Case, Sam Bush

Re: Rock Bands / Concerts You Seen
I've seen so many bands I've lost count. Somewhere I've kept the ticket stubs I didn't lose.
Some of the memorable ones: Led Zeppelin @ Madison Square gardens. I think the tickets were less than $8 Pink Floyd (x2)- animals, the wall Van Halen opening for Black Sabbath. Ozzy killed it (in a good way) AC-DC opening for Journey. What a strange mix that was. Bon Scott and Angus were nuts. The other act a snooze. REO Speedwagon - sat front row. What a mistake that was. Left most of my hearing in that building Frank Zappa - had a full orchestra on stage Alice Cooper - great visuals Stevie Ray Vaughn (x10) awesome, awesome guitarist. Supertramp, ELO, Foghat, Peter Frampton, Zappa, Rush, Genesis, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Foreigner, The Cars, Yes, UFO, ZZ TOp, the Who, CSN, Rod Stewart and dozens of other bands during the '70s and '80's

Re: Rock Bands / Concerts You Seen
First was Van Helen 1. That was a great concert.
Heart. They were great. John Mellencamp opened for them, he was bad. Pat Travers Ted Nugent (We smoked 7 joints on the way there and I forgot to stash away the other 25. A cop pulled the baggy from my pocket at the entry-way, I was like OH SNAP. He put it back in my pocket and let me in. That was back in the day it was a 6 year felony sentence...........Whoops). Blue Oyster Cult Sting BTO Judas Priest (I'm not a fan, plus security stole my pipe). Deep Purple Lynyrd Skynyrd ZZ Top Alice Cooper Sammy Hagar Ronnie Montrose April Wine Marshall Tucker Band Foghat UFO

Re: Rock Bands / Concerts You Seen
First concert was in July, 1985, in Texarkana......Dokken and Loverboy. After then, I tried to make all the Hair Metal concerts around Little Rock and Shreveport.
Cinderella David Lee Roth Great White Whitesnake Monsters of Rock in Memphis: Kingdom Come, Dokken, Scorpions, Metallica, Van Halen Ratt Tesla Kix Def Leppard Britney Fox Bullet Boys I'm sure I'm forgetting a few of those concerts.....my mind wasn't really too clear after most of them. After I got married and calmed down, I saw some Country concerts with my wife. Patty Loveless Tracy Lawrence (from Arkansas) Jason Aldean Eric Church Sarah Buxton Trace Adkins Martina McBride Thomas Rhett Travis Tritt My all time best 80s concert was Great White when they opened up for Whitesnake. They were much better than Whitesnake! My best Country concert was Travis Tritt. That guy is a performer, period! He sang for two hours and was very friendly and personable.

Too many to list. This is the last survivor of a large collection taped to my bedroom wall at my parents' house back in the day.

Re: Rock Bands / Concerts You Seen
I was only 15 when I saw them at Fillmore East with my oldest sister and her friends. She was dating a DJ from WHFS in Bethesda, MD. Turned my head around!

Re: Rock Bands / Concerts You Seen
.
This thread is great! So many memories being dredged up. My prime concert going days were circa 1983 through 1989 with a few sprinkled in later. Just about any rock band that came through, we went to see them. Many are listed here, maybe all of them! Some notables.... Best live reproduction of studio recorded material: Cinderella Best show: Pink Floyd sans Roger Waters My First concert: Accept opening for Bryan Adams Best Drums: Motley Crew ( upside down over top of floor audience ) Most vulgar: Wasp Where I was in AWE: Kiss --full makeup Show I never got to see but wish I could have: Stevie Ray Vaughan EDIT: Some of the best times of all were had in the parking lot prior to the opening act. Back then, anything and everything was OK once your party was confined within the gates of the venue. We often would plan our trips to include a couple hours of tailgating time! -klb
