Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

This is a great pic of the differences between the pre-'71 3-nub 6-lug wheels for DRUM brakes. (on the left)
And the '71-'87 4-nub DISC BRAKE 6-lug wheels.
(on the right)

Another indicator of the NON-disc brake version besides the 3-nubs,... is the raised "hump" between each lug hole on the pre-'71 wheels.

Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

I have a single 15x6 4 nub wheel to sell if anyone is looking. Just taking up space in my garage.

I don't know for sure, but it could be as simple as different suppliers. Are they all the same other than the contour?

Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

1st and 4th photos are the oddball. Has raised areas around each lug nut, but less contour at the two depressed rings just inside and outside the lug circle. Also has less backspacing. You can see how the center section is more toward the rear of the wheel, not level with the drop section of the rim. In the 2nd and 3rd photos (the 3 rims that match) you can see that the center section is level with the drop center of the rim. All are 4 nub.

My guess it was a different wheel supplier.
These wheels were used on 4x4 trucks from 71-87 and 71-91 4x4 suburbans and 71-91 4x4 blazers. I'm sure there could have been different companies supplying wheels to all the different GM plants through out the years.

Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

Thanks for the info. My "oddball" looks like the one you showed in post #76 above. As long as I eventually have 4 with same backspacing I don't really care about these subtle differences. The seller had these on a 71 K10 and never noticed.

Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

Hi can someone tell me if these wheels will fit on '65 with disc brake conversion? thanks (I am thinking this is a 3 nub so it won't fit?)

Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

I found these Dexstars online. These should fit over disc brakes right? It's ok to use these trailer wheels for our trucks/
