Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

Do you know which size you have to run to get away with using disc brakes? Does it have to be the 15x8?

Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

I have the 15x5 or 6 on mine, no issues. It's not so much a matter of the width as it is the shape of contour where the wheel center transitions to the hoop.

Though I don't have pics, I also have a pair of the 15x7 rally in 5 lug.
Do you still have these rims?

Wheel Vintiqies says it has a 13" drop center. Most after market disc brake kits use 12" rotors which means that rim will not accomadaye disc brakes. I called the wbeel company and also inquired with POL disc brake manufacture.

It's usually the "shape" of the wheel hoop that causes issues with the caliper.

Can you please link to an O.E. style steel rim 15" with 6 lugs ?
Im having a very difficult time searching for these style rims that will comfortably accomadate a disc brake.

Anyone ?

I dont want to have to return rims becuase of incompatibility.

Im looking all over the web, including the suggested links in this thread.

Many of the links to these style rims, on this thread, will NOT fit disc brakes.

I would appreciate any help or leads to complete my project.

Thanks.

SERIOUS INQUIRY

71-87 6-lug 4x4 oem steel wheels off of trucks blazers and suburbans will work with disc brakes.
Finding these is getting harder and harder.

Search for CUCV wheels. 15x8 and disc brake compatible. Not easy to find or cheap when you do, but guaranteed to work.

Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

The only way I can send pics is by text to a phone number and I also will have to dig them out of my shipping container .

Question Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

Attached are pictures of wheel measurements I found on craigslist. The owner sent pix with measurements.

These are 6 wide wheels, 6-lug, and 15 in diameter. These also use a 13 center hub piece.

The rear back spacing Is 3-5/8 from the lip to the mounting surface. The inside of the hoop has a 14 inside diameter for about the first three inches of the inner wheel, this would be on the backside.

My question is:
WILL THESE RIMS COMFORTABLY ACCOMADATE FRONT DISC BRAKES with 12" ROTORS ???????

Thanx

Re: 6-lug Steel wheels for Disc brake Conversion

Yes, the 4 “nubs” on the hubcap mounting surface indicates disc brake compatibility. The early drum wheels were 3-nub, or no nub. I truly think the Wheel Vintiques wheel would work, they would have to be crazy to make a new wheel that fits drum only...
