Thanks kilrcady. I tried the same but didn't have great results, so I went a different route. I put a decent gauge piece of black copper wire at the bottom - figured it wouldn't rot or rust. But, what really made a difference was cutting away a piece of the mirror swivel ball to allow for more adjustment range. I just used a metal cutting wheel on my dremel.

I'll probably have to keep a good coat of grease in there to keep it from rusting, but at least it's useful now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I knew that this new to me cab that I bought was going to need cab corners when I bought it, most do.

Also, being a member and a lurker for a while, I have seen quite a few interesting things that have been found in our trucks that was done by PO's.

This has to be up there on the list

Not only the spray foam, but they threw the cap in for good measure!

It's scary to think what people have done and thought they had done a good job.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Nice...I bought a '68 C10 a few years back that had similar issues....the rusted through trailing arms were masterfully covered with plasti-dip, dust & whatever else...good enough that I didn't catch it until I jacked up the truck one day & both rear springs fell out...it was a clean realistic job...best I've seen in a long time.

I thought you were having lunch with some Ham hock or some kind of pot roast. That is up on the list.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

finally measured the mileage since installing the 200R4 trans, got 16.5 in a mix of highway and around town(more highway to be sure) and I love the fact that I can hear the radio while running 65-70 down the road. Sppedo rolled over today so I ma back to zeros

Scored two arm rests to replace my "reupholstered" ones. They're not color coordinated but my elbow doesn't know the difference. LOL

I installed new caliper hoses from Speedway Motors. It took cutting off the original brackets and welding the new ones on, but they look like the answer to a week of searching, parts returns and frustration!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Finished dismantling the cab less the front & rear windows and doors. I'll probably pull the hump as well, but space is a premium, so I'll save it for another day.

That and finished the first manual I'll be writing. At 75 pages it got too large (edit, reduce, standardize, edit, reduce, standardize.....Yikes).........so I figure one manual for body & windows, one for chassis & drive train, and the one I finished for all else. The next two should be much easier.

Boring I know, but for me it's an adventure..........In 5-6 months I post actual restoration. The rebuild will be MUCH quicker....promise. I've received a TON of guidance through this website, and it's always appreciated,

Ha, thanks. Sure have learned a lot. Can't wait for suspension and the rest of the e-brake. Haven't the slightest idea how the Ebrake cable it's connected at the frame. I'll figure it out after I pull the body. Can't wait to start painting something, starting with the frame. Still haven't settled on body color. That's been a constant since I bought it.

If you want pics of the parking brake, I can send you what my 72 has on it. If you want a slick upgrade, look at what Notsolo did on his build page.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=635605

Makes a lot of sense. Using a hook to apply pressure to the cable seems like it belongs on a Ford tractor.

Don't worry about the color until after you've gotten along in the project. I'll bet it comes to you.

May not be my favorite, but I like it a lot. The first image would be to the SPID, only sport mirrors and moldings added. That and a chrome rear bumper. The original owner liked all things recreational. This little short bed had a step bumper.............and boat launching hitch, CB, fifth wheel, aux. tanks, camper mirrors............For what it's worth, this truck will be "original" less the camper business, adding some value to orchre.

The second pic is another option.

Third pic has become a recent ponder.

If I had a 67 color would be easy........ Light blue and white.

Cool pulley. I know the layout, though haven't visited the brake drum yet. It's this piece that gave me trouble. I don't know how it detaches from the frame.

Been hard it this morning. Install stereo and speakers last night and finally installed seat this morning; interior is done Except maybe a different steering wheel. Painted headers this morning and primer-etched valve covers. Lots of daylight left

Doesn't take you all day to do a day's work. What did you use on your headers?

They are old Hooker Competitions that already had the textured coating. I sanded, cleaned with mineral spirits and sprayed with 3 coats of 2,000degree High Heat Rust-Oleum.

Installed plugs, wires, cap & rotor, changed the oil & filter & laid down some rubber! Gotta love old dried out tires!
