Dakota Digital Tachometer wiring?

hey all,

I got a Dakota Digital VFD and I am struggling to wire it up - I have got most of it wired up now but I don't know how to wire up the tachometer and their tech support has not responded (it's Friday so I will forgive them).

It says to tap into the ignition coil and my dumb new question is - how?

Thanks

There is no oem coil wire in your harness. You need a run a new wire to the distributor. If you have an HEI you have an open mail spade terminal that says tach on the distributor cap.

What year are we talking about? On the back of the dizzy cap you should have a 3 wire plug and two recessed male terminals. The cap will have a stamp for each of the two terminals, one says "Batt" and one says "Tach". The tach wire or terminal is the one that needs to go to the Dakota tach signal.

Thanks. I checked and there’s a tach connection on the distributor. So I just run a wire from that through the firewall?

I still can’t work out the Shifter module setup but at least I can sort the tach.

Yes, that’s all you need to do for the tach wiring.

Follow the provided directions on setting up the shifter module. There is a set up procedure to get it to sync with your trans .
