74 Blazer - What to do?

Hey everyone,

I picked up a 74 Blazer a few months ago. Nice straight truck, 99% rust-free with what appears to be all original metal. I am debating on whether or not to sell the truck since I really don't have time for it. Is 74 a desireable year?

Thanks,
Scott

How do I figure out a value on this thing? I rarely see any for sale. Is that cause they are just uncommon, not many made or what?

2wd or 4wd? 2wd is more rare and therefore valuable. You could do a search on ebay but that will usually give you a low value due to bottom-feeding. Its a start though.

Re: 74 Blazer - What to do?

Here are the pics. I got some time to work on it this weekend and think I am going to hang on to it for the time being. I have the room, and its not costing anything right now. Here are some pictures.

You will regret it if you sell it. Take the top off and you may never sell it!

X2

That's a nice ride and it will be hard to replace that one. Like the wheels.

Have a 74 Jimmy in South Austin. Mine is not in as good as shape as yours. Top shot etc. Hang on to it. I don't see many around here.

I am gonna keep working on it and driving it. I think I may start to search for 3/4 ton axles. Keep me occupied with something to do

Re: 74 Blazer - What to do?

If you do sell it, I am looking for a 73-75, but I just need a roller. I bent the frame on my really nice '80 k5 back in feb.

I think you have car ADHD. Nothing wrong with that, though.

Scott doesn't get on here nearly as much as I do, so I cought it for him. The Jimmy is solid, and needs a good home.

I know of '74 jimmy that the body is falling off the frame. I believe the frame is solid, but it is in MN. I think the frames are different too. I thought the '77 up frames were changed for the rear foot well. The '73-76 blazers have a flat floor from the front seats to the tailgate.

Re: 74 Blazer - What to do?

78 is the first year for the newer floor, 77 still has a flat floor. 77 is kind of a transition year for a few things, the high back buckets were a running change in '77, and the doors changed to the newer door regulators (and the ability to run power windows). It's also the only year for the yellow stripe in the trim.

Not necessarily looking for a parts rig, I just dont need any drivetrain if I can find one that is already gutted. Looking for a nice rust free frame and tub to replace the nice one that I have and bent the frame on.

Survivors are so rare, I'd hate to see that one molested. It can easily fetch some big $$$ as-is.

Don't mind me, I'm an old phart...

That's a really nice truck, love to have it.
