How did you get rid of all the machining lines on the emblem?

They were not quite as rough as the up close picture showed. Just some block sanding and polishing really.

I did machine work for 20 years, sometimes you get some wild optical illusions. some times they look deep but you can't even feel them.

Re: The 48 chevy truck Ironworks is building.

I see a 55/ 56 pickup in the background...but I am guessing it's not going to be as insane as the black 57? The 48 is more than awesome by the way. Maybe I'll get the patience for this level someday. The things I seem to look past on mine are really just a matter of a "oh well, it's just going to be a driver, I want it done now" attitude.

The truck in the back ground is a project at the painters shop where we have been handling reassembly.

Late last night the truck was picked up from Ron Mangus and hauled back to the bat cave to install the final details on the truck. Here is a sneek peak at how it is shaping up. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, but something is better then nothing.

Looking better all of the time. Please show us A LOT of interior pics when it is finished. I still need to do my interior and seeing how a pro did it will help.

Nice work

Re: The 48 chevy truck Ironworks is building.

Did y'all get the truck to SEMA? I’m super anxious to see finished product pics. Keep pushing the envelope guys. And one more question would you proffer to build the tube chassis or a box frame chassis? Just curious because the tube frame chassis was awesome.

The truck made it to SEMA. I will post more pics in the next few days.

As far as round tube or square tube chassis, that really depends on what the customer desires. The round tube is quite a bit more work.

Post all you want. Nothing to hide.

I'm waiting for some nice weather and I will take some nice detail shots. I was so busy at SEMA I forgot to take pics of it parked in place at the show.

Most of the projects we have completed in the last few years have been at SEMA. I can only think of one that has not, a 1946 packard. And that is because the customer drives the wheels off the car. We wrapped it up in late Feb and he had 4k miles on it in late June or early July.

It is easy to turn them over to the customer when we are done, because most of the time the customer lets us do another project. Or it is just time to work on something different.

beautiful job, thanks for taking the time to document this build, and to answer the myriad of questions.

I really like the machined front emblem. Any change of getting a copy of the Solidworks part file?
