Re: Project "High life"

Yeah I would go with the highest of 3.42's. I've heard them and the 3.73's are great for the 350/700R4 combo.

Jason I don't want to point out the obvious, but you could just jack the rear up, and rotate the rear wheels and count the revolutions on the driveshaft instead of taking off the rear end cover. At least to get you to a close idea of what gears are in it. I agree with Hoser though it sounds like 4.11's

I agree not 3.08 but it still doesen't seem right. I think I might have a bad tach. My ears don't think the rpms are right. The last time I know it was right the truck had a different tach, tranny, exhaust and has a better motor now. I'll eather get another tach or when I go back to work we got a timing light that gives you rpm.

What kind of tach is it? Some tach's have a switch on the back so you can set to 4, 6, or 8 cyl. Maybe that got moved.

You nailed it ese. I forgot about that. Mabey the body shop messed with that when they had it. I found my instructions and reprogramed it to 8 cylender and 2300 @ 60mph. I can't really complain about that. I owe you a drink.

Well that was a lot cheaper than a new rear end.

OUTSTANDING! Give that man a cigar!

* I hate to admit it, but I used the RPM setting on my multi-meter (taped to the hood) to check mine.

Right on! 2300 @ 60 ain't bad. Still lower than 3.08's I would say..more like 3.73's. You don't owe me anything, J. I'm sure we'll have another opportunity to have a few... I'm glad that worked out.

Re: Project "High life"

Here are some updates. Got some glovebox trim, installed my dash speakers, took 2 wore out window regulaters and made 1 good one. The truck now has a @4 1/2" drop in the front and @6" in the back.

I tried to match your awsome version of phase 2. But I need a c-notch and lowering blocks and drop spindles to go lower and stay in alignment. I am seriously thinking of a phase 3 within the next year or so.
