Blazer buckets the same

Hello everyone.
I just did some parts trading and ended up with 2 passenger side blazer bucket seats, Both seats have the hinged mounting hardware.
I paid a lot of money in parts for these seats for a friend who just picked up a 72
Blazer with no seats. He is now backing out of the deal because of the seats being the same. Now I am just trying to figure this problem out. What to do.
My questions.... Are the driver and passenger seat the same thing??
Can i move a passenger side seat to the driver side if I aquire the correct mounting hardare/tracks??

I thank anyone who can post advice and options.
Thanks,Dan

Re: Blazer buckets the same

The seat frames are the same, the mounting brackets are where the difference is.
The brackets are hard to find and pricey.
There's a guy on FB that may have them.
If you have FB search up CT Mendoza or Jr Vera or
Armando Reyes..he had some listed about a week ago

Re: Blazer buckets the same

Thank you so much A1971Blazer.
I can quit holding my breath now.

I am not on facebook but have friends that are.
I was hoping to find the driver side tracks on here.
Maybe trade passenger side hardware for drivers side.
Witch side is harder to find?
And do they have the same value?
Thank again.

I'm not sure which is harder to find as I have never looked for or needed either
I just see them listed and the prices that people are asking.
Like most parts, the price is whatever the seller sets and the buyer is willing to pay.
I'll keep my eyes open and let you know if I see any listed.

Re: Blazer buckets the same

Yep, you are correct on the price of parts.
Whatever people will pay.
Thanks again.

Re: Blazer buckets the same

I need Blazer Buckets bad, but I'm in Arizona.
Might be cheaper for me to buy new, but there's still the mounting issue.
Also Seat Fold Forward [P/S] is important for people who use the back seat. I took mine out. All cargo, but sometimes you need to get something that can't be reached from the tailgate.

Those are utility seats...I'm not sure if the tracks/brackets are the same as the bucket seats, but I assume they would mount in the same location on the floor, but maybe not to the seat frame?
I have a pair of utility frames in good shape except for the floor mounts...they are rusted away.
I may be using them on a custom split seat for my '67 C10 build...if not, I may consider selling them.

Yep, you are correct, I forgot to mention that they are utilitie seats.
Thanks for the offer and correcting the seat differance.
I don't know if the tracks are different or the same, maybe someone will let us know on here.

I am local to Tucson AZ. I'll check him out.
As per your first question:
A PO put in some mid-'80s F-Car [Camaro/Firebird] highback buckets. Front mounts are a pair of 4'' stalks. It was a real redneck, back-alley, shadetree job. The rear mounts of both seats are screwed into 4'' x 4'' wood blocks with lagbolts. The seats themselves recline and the back folds forward, but the foam is shot with odd wires jutting up to poke one in the posterior. I wore the original drivers side seat out, about 10 years ago, and traded them over. By now, the other seat is shot too. Firebird seats of that vintage molded the wire springs inside the foam. A seat shop said they were not repairable. Don't need highbacks anyway.

Re: Blazer buckets the same

LOL, wow, those seat mounts are past red neck. Sounds like you got your money's worth out of them.
Good luck with the ebay seats.

Yeah, well $1650 simoleans for a pair of seats Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen were sitting in when the Stormtroopers blasted them, is a little out of my orbit.

While the color of the backs is about right for a medium metallic blue repainted truck, the need for new foam, a repair of the system, and fresh vinyl skins makes that project astronomical.
I'd save on shipping, I guess.
Modern resto budgets are staggering.
I remember when I could buy a nice truck for $1600.

Re: Blazer buckets the same

At risk of setting some of the Purists off, here’s what did.
25 years ago, I bought a pair of Blazer seats out of a 70 Blazer for $20
Of course they were rough lookin and I literally cut them out with my saws all, it the frames/springs were in great shape.
(They were gonna crush it the following week, and the sad thing is that it was a Factory Black Top).
Anyway, once I got them home and doing measurements, I realized that the DS Blazer frame is longer than one on a Bench (I was just gonna fab another hinged frame for the PS).
What I did was ct the Blazer Mounts off, and welded Bench seat mounts on them.
Worked like a. Harm.
All I had to do was fab a release lever mechanism, because the PS Adjustment is inside next to the Console.
I know it’s not a Factory option, but I love my bucket seats.

Re: Blazer buckets the same

I did something similar to Custom10nut when I put Blazer buckets in my Suburban. I modified bench seat sliders to mount to the bucket seats.
