71-72 seat cover problems

I just bought a seat cover from LMC trucks for the 71-72 seats as my truck is a 71. I am having trouble getting the covers to fit. My seat folds forward and from the research I have just done I have a 67-68 seat. Is it possible to use the covers i have on this 68 seat so i can keep the folding part? I don't have a gas tank in the cab an need access to the area behind my seat. Hopefully Grumpy can shed some light on this.

Re: 71-72 seat cover problems

The 71 seat cover will not work on the 67-68 frame , The seat covers attach to the frame differently . If you look at the bottom of the seat frames you can see how they are different the 71 has holes to attach the cover with hog rings the 67-8 does not they are installed with clips into the groove also the sides of the back rest are attached different the 71 has "legs" of material to cover the side mounting brackets after the seat bottom and back rest are bolted together , Time to send that seat cover back or take it and the seat to your local auto upholstery shop and have them fix the cover and install it for you .

Re: 71-72 seat cover problems

My first truck in high school was a 72. I put a 67-68 bench that folded in it. A local upholster made a 71-72 houndstooth cover work on it.

I’m gonna try to make this one work, I may get it on where I need it and mark where it needs a nip and tuck and take it to a shop to have it altered to work.

Re: 71-72 seat cover problems

I got the bottom on and it fit pretty good. The back rest is what will cause trouble though.

Re: 71-72 seat cover problems

And almost finished, got to clean up and paint the seat mounts. I don't know why they flipped over, anyone know how to fix the pics.
