Most prized truck related possession?

Not including your whole truck, what is your most prized truck possession? What is that one part or thing you are hanging on to that you haven't used yet, and may never use on your truck? Or something that is on your truck now, but if you sell you will not include in the sale. Something that you "say" you will never part with. What is your "My precious"?

And since this is the 67-72 forum can we keep it 67-72 related ... Thanks!

Re: Most prized truck related possession?

Some day when I sell my truck, the steering wheel will not be going with it, it's staying with me for my next truck or car, or going on my wall as a decoration.

Re: Most prized truck related possession?

Full documentation including original purchase agreement, Protect-O-Plate, owner's manual, every receipt from day one and virtually every gallon of gas used since 1969. However, I don't ever recall finding a build sheet. If I did it was long, long ago and I pitched it. The purchase agreement and Protecto-O-Plate have my name on them.

The spotlight on my 70.

Dealer installed and everyone said to remove it when I did all the body work. I love it and kept it on the truck as it ties the shaved and slammed truck to it’s prior farm life.

Re: Most prized truck related possession?

This factory cowl induction plenum that 12secondnova sent me , It's the only one I've ever seen and I'll be mounting it on the passenger side of the cowl and running 4" tube to the carb,The problem is once I sent it out for chrome it changed the whole build on that truck and sent me running to the chrome shop for more and more .

Here's the thread were he found it in a junk yard in Northern Ca

Re: Most prized truck related possession?

Tough to say for me. I have nos GMC 3/4 hubcaps that I will likely never install but I would never sell. They may make it on my 72 grande for car shows some day buts that is a long way down the road

Re: Most prized truck related possession?

Tough one, especially when the entire truck is something I wouldn't let go. If I had to pick a part, it might be the NOS heat stove and pipe. Haven't slapped them on yet, but then the build is currently mostly just frame

Re: Most prized truck related possession?

I guess the one thing that fits all your criteria seems to be the N.O.S. Saddle steering wheel I bought in '91. I have been through several trucks with Saddle interior since buying and have always managed to find a decent used wheel for each of them, including my present truck. I bought it from a guy in OK City out of Hemmings Motor News for $325 because even back then that was a rare fine piece. But I'm sure if for some reason I end up done with trucks I would let it go. Just don't see that happening.

Re: Most prized truck related possession?

Some interesting answers (some not lol). I think the steering wheels are a neat thing. Could easily be used for wall hangings, even in the house (in the right room) that wouldn't be frowned upon by the significant other.

My 71 C30 has a perfect black steering wheel and Ive been thinking about pulling it when the time comes and putting in one of those comfort grips and keeping the stock wheel just because.

My 327. It's been in the family for years in three different vehicles. Lost track of the miles on it long ago. That engine has done everything we've ever asked of it.

I'd keep the glovebox door and ashtray I sent off to be pinstriped by a painter in New York. Have grown pretty fond of them...

Re: Most prized truck related possession?

Picture of my wife (then girlfriend) at 16 years old, has been in the tach spot on my dash since 1996. Would be really sad to see it go.

Also, the tach dash itself. One night my Dad called me while I was at college in the dead of winter and said he found a box on the porch with a tach dash inside and a note that said "found this in Alaska, thought you might want it - Johnny Cat". Dad and I were shocked. My high school friend John always liked the truck, and thought it should have a tach dash. He found it in a big truck in a field, removed it and hauled it all the way back for me. It was still a couple more years before I saw him again and could thank him. One of the nicest things anybody has done for me, to this day.

I too am curious about the 67 only tach. Only thing I can think of would be a date stamped tach circuit board. Hope to be enlightened.
