Re: New Project truck!!

Ok guys I got my gauges wired up and mounted to the interior panel. Though they are not in the truck and completly wired I had to show a pic. I was hesitant on spending the extra $$ for the ULTRA lite 2 series gauges. But after seeing them light up Im sold. What do you think?? One pic is a daylight pic with power off. One is woth power on in daylight. Other is lights out night time pic.

Re: New Project truck!!

I have got a little done on the truck lately. Got the 97 column fabbed up and mounted in. Took me 3 days to wire the column up to the 92 harness. I have to go to the Junk yard and get a DS light for under the dash. After I get the light I can button up the wiring. The gauge panel is mounted and I can start to wire all the senders. I was really happy to get my brake lights, tail lights and turns all to work right. So far everything is going pretty smooth. The hardest part of the dash swap by far has been the column mounting.

Re: New Project truck!!

Finally I have a update that I can post a pic of. I have not been working on the truck as much as I should but whats new!!! I recently completed the wiring portion of the 92-97 interior upgrade. I got all the power windows/locks, steering column, headlights, tailights, brake lights all working. The swap from 92 to 97 is NOT for the faint if heart. Mounting the column iteself was a big challenge. Anyhow everything is now working. I started working on the fuel system. I got the bed cleaned up a bit and sprayed it with a rattle can brand bedliner. I fiquered I didnt want to put $400 into a spray on rhino type liner for a bed that wil not see any work ever again. After I cleaned the bed I got to fitting the fuel cell. Turns out I picked out the only fuel cell summit has that does not have a set of mounting brackets available for it. After a quick trip to Home Depot I picked up a few pieces on 1" wide aluminum strips. I used them and bent them up to make my own mounting brackets for the cell. Got the fuel cell mounting done tonight. I have a few pics attached. They turned out very bad due to the lighting. I have not plumbed any of it yet. I plan to start that maybe friday??

Re: New Project truck!!

Phantom, Phantom, Phantom........I have always looked forward to see your upgrade pics. But rattlecans? With the quality of work on the rest of the truck, don't stop at the bed. And if you do leave the rattlecan undercoating maybe go back over it with the gallon can of bedlining that you can get from the parts store that rolls on. The reason I say this is that looking at the bed tunnel you see dull and light spots. You can't put everything else under the spotlight then stop there. You need a uniform look. Even though the bed don't /won't see duty doesn't mean it won't get looks. BTW nice job on everything else.

Re: New Project truck!!

Keep up with the pics. Looking good so far. Where did you get the 4 link from and where are you pulling your geometry from for the set up. The reason I ask is have a drag truck and am thinking about a 4 link.
I wrote the above way before getting to the end of this thread. Your pics and work are great. It's one thing to buy something done it's another thing to build something yourself and have fellow enthusiests praise your work. You should take pride in your truck especially knowing you did most of the work yourself. Just my $.02 Jay

Thx for the comments. The rear setup is a comp engineering ladder bar setup wirth Qa1 coilovers. I followed the directions that came from Comp engineering. Seems to have turned out OK. I am rethinking the bedliner. It really dont ook bad at all in person BUT the stuff i used scraths easily. Im going to look into line X or maybe a do it yourself herculiner.

Re: New Project truck!!

I couldnt tell by the pics. Did you mount your new cluster behind the stock lens? I like the panel black better. Im not a huge carbon fiber fan but it may look pretty sharp on your panel in a newer dash like that. Keep up the good work!...

Yes I ended up using a piece of black matte finish plastic. My buddy owns a sign shop and has alot of diffrent materials. I do plan to put it behind the stock cluster BUT I am going to have a company put a new piece of clear plex over the piece. The one I have is scratched and cracked. The main decision is the hole in the stock cluster lens is in the wrong spot.

Re: New Project truck!!

Here are a few pics I snapped. Notice the window switchs from the 92 style to the 95-up. Also the dash and column swap. I will be putting the interior together in the next few weeks. I put new window sin the doors. Also the inner metal panel had to be changed out to go from the 92 door panels to the 95-up. The seats shown are not going to be used. I ordered a set of LG1 leather buckets from corbeau today.

Dash will bolt right in. If you can find a donor truck you can drill out the bracket which holds the column and put it into the older truck. Wiring was not to bad. By searching the internet you can find alot of info. I did my column wiring by myself. If you have a good 12v knowledge along with a test light and a voltmeter this is not bad to do.

Re: New Project truck!!

I finally have a few updates. Got my cluster lens issue fixed. The flash of the camera adds some looks of scratchs on the dash bezel. These however are not there or seen in normal lighting. Added a new steering wheel also. I have test fitted the seats and am very pleased with them. I am currently searching for some good cooling fans.
