3600 with 3100 bed

Wife wants a 3100 for a family project. We've searched for the right Patina candidate and either to far gone, too expensive for our budget. We came across this 3600 with a flat bed at almost a steal. Our question is, will all the 3100 bed components fit this 3600 chasis?

there are some frame differences but nothing that will keep a bed from fitting. a 3600 is usually a long wheelbase chassis so you will need a long bed and long running boards if that is the case.

be sure to factor the cost of a bed in your total price, a decent bed and fenders will be fairly expensive

are you changing frames or suspensions? the 3/4 ton 3600 has 8 lug wheels and a full floating rear that is hard to find highway gears for.

Why don't I get you to build me one. Looks like you're doing a great job already. Loving your builds with those Blazers. Great work.

thanks, but I have enough trouble getting my own work done. I am sitting on the couch taking a break because the two year old is napping.

Well you would either have to shorten the frame 9-1/4 inches to use the short box or go with the long box.

Or upgrade the flatbed to look proper. Nothing wrong with a decent flatbed with stake racks a couple of feet tall.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: 3600 with 3100 bed

Look into this thread. Started with a 3600 and turned it into a 3100. He is a great guy and may have some good info to share. Keep looking. The trucks are out there. Be patient.

Re: 3600 with 3100 bed

3600 3/4t frame is the same as the 3400 1/2t frame lwb and use the same 7'6'' (90'') bed
3100 has a 6'6.125'' (78.125'') bed
throw a long bed on your 3600 and call it good
