Re: Post Your OEM Wheel Swaps

Here's two of mine.

The 94 is 2wd and 6 lug swapped, lowered 2/4, the 99 Crew is just a simple wheel swap.

Assuming you mean the newer JK wheels, keep in mind you will need spacers as they have significantly more backspacing than your truck.

Those are 2007-2010 GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD wheels. The Chevrolet ones were a little different (Because I have the Chevy ones on my GMC)

What route did you go for the 6 lug conversion?

On that truck, I went with a 6 lug 14 bolt rear axle in the back, and light duty 2500 6 lug rotors in the front. Simple.

On the crew cab, I'm going with the same 14 bolt rear end, and 99+ spindles and hubs in the front. 99+ disk brakes all the way around.

Re: Post Your OEM Wheel Swaps

So you swapped a complete rear end? From what, a 4wd? I was considering new axle shafts from moser.

Thumbs down Re: Post Your OEM Wheel Swaps

Correct. I went to a bigger and stronger 4x4 rear end assembly. It was cheaper than new shafts/drums.

From what application? I thought the 4wd axle was a different width?

Re: Post Your OEM Wheel Swaps

Looks pretty good. Did the 6-lug pattern go to metric or was that only 8-lugs? Also, what year did tings go from SAE to metric pattern?

Re: Post Your OEM Wheel Swaps

As far as I know 1500 trucks still has 6x5.5 (6x139.7mm)
2500 still has 8x6.5 (8x165.1mm)
2500HD with 8 lug pattern went to metric 8x180mm in 2011.

The Colorado series went to metric 6x120mm in 2015. (exept diesel Colorados which still has 6x5.5)

Re: Post Your OEM Wheel Swaps

Yes I do and thanks. It was easy. I wanted a retro-stock look for the work truck. I went with a traditional truck color when I ordered it and played on that. Also got the towing mirrors much like what came on earlier trucks. The wheels are Ford Accurides (7") with 255/85-16 tires

Re: Post Your OEM Wheel Swaps

Chrome H2 wheels I got off c-list for $150. Chrome was pealing on insides of spokes but fine on outside. Basically chrome you see now was fine, where it's black is where it was peeling. Center cap is 88-up style had to trim prolly an inch to fit. I like these over the later caps, tho they would fit with no trimming.

Nice. I like the smooth look 88-98s caps better, too. So, you had to take about an inch off the backside?
