kwik performance AC bracket alignment

ok guys, im running a 5.3 V8 with truck accessories and this kwik performance bracket that vintage air sells (141808)

went out an bought the EXTRA tensioner that is not included in the KIT
swapped the pulley on that for the gates 38012 (was included in the kit)

had to add the included washer behind the 38012 just to get the thing to clear the tensioner body and spin.

im no expert, but i think ill have alignment issues.

seems like the AC compressor and the top pulley are inline with the rest of the motor pulleys, but the pulley that sits on the tensioner (the delco 12560344) sticks out almost an 1/8 inch

it looks like the only way to solve this would be to mill the kwik bracket where the tensioner sits to allow the tensioner to go back where i need it.

it does line up perfectly without the washer, but the 38012 pulley contacts the tensioner body and wont spin

Any ideas?

thanks

Re: kwik performance AC bracket alignment

Did you get this figured out because I'm noticing the same thing with mine? Thanks!

Re: kwik performance AC bracket alignment

man, i had this whole response typed out and i lost the post...

ok, short of it is:

1)kwik sent me another tensioner to try and that worked. returned the other one i bought. just tolerances in manufacturing

2)ended up having vibrations at 1500-2000 that werent there before AC. returned kwik, bought alan grove setup. easier to install, and vibrations were reduced. still there, but much better.

3)talked to guy at gates and he confirmed what i was thinking: resonant freq due to the longer belt. gm used a shorter belt and second one for ac, and im wondering if that might have been one reason. so ultimately, im going to swap motor mounts and try to fab something up to put the compressor down in stock location. but havent gotten around to it yet.

hope that helps
