71 Spindle Lock Nuts? Where can I find them? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Autozone/O'reily's* are letting me down. I've searched and hit store after store and the only two anwsers I've been given are: "junk yard, or call a GM dealer" :-\

I mean come on, I know this is asking alot....lol...but where can I find a "Castle" LockNut? Its for my 71 front end with disc brakes on it? I've got the lock washer already.

I bought mine at oreilly in the help section. Little kits that cost me like $6 each or something.

thats the problem...

I've taken two different sets home to see if they fit....? and they haven't.

We've come down to the facts which are; 26mm and standard threads for my 71 front end. and yet they don't care that specific style. :-\ As far as in Arkansas

try NAPA or CARQUEST they normally have better couter help to solve problems

I just called NAPA and they ordered one and had one.... so I'll pick it up this afternoon and see if this is the one!

Chevy's are 3/4-20 castle nuts. Rockauto is the easiest way to buy them.

Any good nut and bolt or fab shop people will have them are can get them. Fastnel, NAPA any body should have them.
Most of the time it ends up being the person u talk to.

If all else fails, Industrial bolt supply houses have them but youhave to know what size first. They wont be able to look up anything automotive.

Ordering online from Rock Auto is easier,I guess,but not better. For me,it's not that hard and it's 10x better to run to town and pick them up and install them the same day

Yea, I agree. way easier to buy and take back to if it doesn't fit/work out. So theres erie to me sometimes buying online. of course needed at times.

So, where did you actually get the spindle nuts and washers. I am striking out also. This should be something easy to get but nothing seems to work for the 71-72 spindles. No one even list a part numer for it.

Yeah there you go! Try that shop in CA!

Myself, got real stupid and didn't trace the threads looking on the bottom side bolt coming out off the spindle where the crown nut screws over andddd of all things, there's no telling how many of the nuts I tried would have worked? :-(( So after my friend saw the bad rough spot in the threads I cleaned it up and bamb, there she went! And if I'm not mistaking, I went through "Napa" because as you said; some auto part stores don't even carry an item close to it or even able to order a crown nut.

But I believe thinking back through of all the auto part stores I went to "Napa" was the one I found them in!

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
