Hello....my '57 has a Volare front suspension I am rebuilding....I am almost done except the replacement of the torsion bar isolator bushings...I bought a set of poly bushings that do not have a slit in them...and I am not sure how to install them...also the isolator asm is rusted to the torsion bar....do you think it is ok to cut a slit in them for installation?.....any experiences replacing these?..

I'd think that you may have to hunt down a factory service manual for a Volarie to figure that one out and those are probably as hard to find as parts for that front end.
The factory manual should have instructions while the parts house ones like Haynes won't have it.

If it's rusted I'd say soak it down with PB blaster and keep soaking it until you can get it to move.

Look up electrolytic rust removal, or get a five gallon bucket & five gallons of white vinegar at the grocery store & soak that sucker.
I wouldn't slit the bushing. I'd remove the rust & do it right, painting everything I'd de-rusted along the way. Who knows? You might discover the rust is a lot worse than you thought. Worst case scenario it takes a little longer and costs a little more than you'd hoped, but what else is new in this hobby?

It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
