Re: SM465 Cover Help

I wouldn't worry about dropping an SM465 from 2 feet. I'd guess you could drop one from 20 feet and the damage would be to the concrete more than the trans.

If it didn't crack something obvious or damage anything external you shouldn't have to worry much. The internals are guaranteed not damaged.

Re: SM465 Cover Help

But part of what made me second guess that is it's in 2nd or 3rd and i can't get it to take other gears. It won't even try.

Re: SM465 Cover Help

Sounds like reverse slid on you when you put the cover back in place.I put some grease on the shaft to hold the gear in place while installing the cover.

Re: SM465 Cover Help

The case is fine, so's the input shaft. But now it won't free shift... Which is what started the 2nd guessing. I don't wana put it in only to have to drop it once i put the cab n dog house on. It did make a nice indention in my dirt lean-to lol.

Re: SM465 Cover Help

To get the cover off take all the bolts out of the cover to trans. Engauge 1/2 way into reverse and it should come right off.

Re: SM465 Cover Help

I can't get the cover off cuz the shifter is "stuck" it feels like in neutral. It won't take gear. Not low or reverse.
