Re: My Drive-way Build - '65 short pants

Here's a quick update of my slow build. I don't have pics of all of the progress, so I work on that too. I took the truck down to my buddy's shop and all of the front frame was finally welded up. We also built the trans crossmember and installed the rear notches. Shortly after that, I got called to a job working night. 10 hours, 7 days a week. Needless to say the truck sat during that time. Now that the job is over I'm hopefully going to make some progress on the truck.

Today I notched the upper control arm. Could have came out better, but it should work.

Here's a pic of when we started on the notches.

Still not much going on. I placed an order at suicide doors about a month ago and am just waiting on that. Once it comes in I'll be able to finish up all of the suspension out back. During the wait I managed to install these...

Re: My Drive-way Build - '65 short pants

Tackled another project recently. I finally mounted the brake pedal/booster/master on the truck. I followed a guide on here. I can't recall who posted it, but I really liked his approach. So, I copied it for mine. I used captain's adapter with an s10 booster and a 74ish c10 booster. the proportion valve is from the same donor 86 c10 that I got the front suspension from.
Overall I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. I splashed some paint on everything before I put it in too.

Also picked up some tires and threw them on. That way I'll be able to dial the stance in to where I want it when the parts from suicidedoors get here.

Here's a pic from yesterday. I managed to push her outside to blow the dust off of her. She's slowly coming along.

Re: My Drive-way Build - '65 short pants

Still waiting on those suspension parts but had an itch to spend a bit of time in the garage. I decided to take another look at that rusted BBW panel that I had and see what I could do with it. Here's a few pics to show what's going on.

Here she is in all of her crusty/holey glory.

Did some cutting on a chunk of a small window cab.

New patch cut out. Then laid out where to cut the BBW panel.

After the cut.

Clamped and tacking the patch in.

Here she is all welded in and ground down.

I have both corners in but am going to need another donor piece from a small window cab for the center section. Does anybody have a chuck they'd like to sell?

Re: My Drive-way Build - '65 short pants

Update...

Doesn't seem like I've gotten much done since the last post. I've been working a good bit since June and only get an hour or two too work on the truck at a time. Plans/goals have changed a bit. I'm really hoping to get the rear suspension all finished up so I can set the bed back on. That way "most" of the truck will be in the same place and out of the weather too. I'll just let the pics bring everything up to date...

That's almost where I'm at now. One side upper bag mount is for the most part done. Soooo... Just need to duplicate it on the other side. Make up a few capping plates and such and then I can burn everything in permanently.

Thanks, man. I really appreciate it. I took KP components approach and adapted it to our truck arm setup. I used their watts link too.

In my head it should work but time will tell.

Very nice work. Are you planning to match the rockers with the rest of the paint and keep it patina or repaint the whole truck?

Definitely not going to paint the whole truck! She's earned all of her "beauty marks". I don't know what I'm going to do about the rockers though. I thought about just leaving the primer but who knows. Maybe I can talk one of my body guy friends into blending them in or something.

Re: My Drive-way Build - '65 short pants

Not much of an update but I managed to make an adapter for my clifford intake for the 292.

Also getting a bit of work done fitting the inner fenders. They have to be clearanced for the raised crossmember/suspension and steering box. Then it's on to finishing up all of the brake lines.

Progress is progress. Love your truck and the way you're making all the parts for the suspension and not going the kit route. Did the same thing on my '66 Lincoln. Subscribed for inspiration when the day comes I finally get my own C-10.

Thanks. I'm more of a fab guy. Although sometimes my ambitions exceed my skill set or tool availability. Not being able to afford the nice shiny stuff kinda made me this way I suppose.
