Re: headers for 71 454 4x4?

These were the only headers I could get to fit within my budget. I had to do minor frame trimming to fit. I know each truck is different so they may fit perfect for you.

Re: headers for 71 454 4x4?

I used Dynomax Cermacoated headers, part number 86022, designed for the 67-87 BBC 2WD. The headers for 73-87 BBC 4WD would not work in my 69 K20. I had to clearance the frame a bit on the passenger side to make them work.

Re: headers for 71 454 4x4?

I used Doug's D303Y ceramic coated headers for BBC trucks and motorhomes. No frame trimming necessary, but they did hit the passenger side lower shackle bolt on the leaf spring. I actually wound up bashing the one primary tube that was closest flat which seems to have solved the issue for now.

Re: headers for 71 454 4x4?

I bought the 67-72 crossmember from DIY4x. For my truck I moved the motor forward 2 1/4" and up 2". I wasn't a direct fit for me. As I said in my earlier post every truck is different. Some have been able to use the stock crossmember and haven't had firewall clearance issues. Spend the time to mock everything up and measure everything to get it just right.
