Wiring Harness Full Replacement

I was looking to get a full new harness for my 1972 SWB, I was looking at a Painless harness but ran across this one, and was curious if I am missing something on the cost savings here?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-1972-C...53.m1438.l2649

I know it is missing the headlight, dimmer and iginition, but looks like it includes everything else at 1/4 of the cost of the Painless. Anyone ever try one of these, and was it worth it, or am I better off spending the money on a Painless or American Autowire?

sounds ok but what is your plan for the headlights, dimmer, and ignition? Are these circuits fused or protected by a fuseable link in the stock setup? I am not farmilar enough with the 72 but those are question that need answers.

I would suggest a kit that has everything you need...check into American autowire ....tell them what you have and let them recommend what to get...like wgesner points out...your still gonna need alot more than the Ebay kit offers..

Re: Wiring Harness Full Replacement

I have used this kit before on a customers truck. Not for the beginner, if you are looking for a stock style harness, I highly encourage the painless harness. I am an electrical guy, and probably one of the only guys who actually likes wiring, and can make any brand harness work, with the proper amount of time and effort. A painless harness will install in less than two full days, the harness your link is for took me over a week to install, but in its defense, it has some really nice thick heavy gauge wires.

It does have circuits for headlights, prewired ignition switch (GM column mount switch) and outputs for gauges. some modifications (ok, a lot of modifications) are necessary for 67-72 trucks.

BTW, unless you are upgrading to Newport style wiper motor and switch, do not loose your wiring from stock wiper switch to motor, that part of the wiring is not included in any kit except painless exact fit harness.

hope this helps

ask away any questions you may have
