12si swap to 10si(internally)
I have a 12si 100 amp alternator that the front bearing went bad. I also have a stock 10si alternator that I would like to take the guts out of and put the 12si guts in. Is this doable? I cant seem to find on the search, anything like what I want to do.

Re: 12si swap to 10si(internally)
I want to swap the internals of the 12si and put it in the 10si since the bearings went bad in the 12si but, the 12si internals are for 100 amps which I could use instead of the stock 63 amps the 10si puts out.. I've read your attachment before. Thanks though..

Re: 12si swap to 10si(internally)
My best advice is try it. Set both side by side, and compare. If it looks like a possibility, pull both apart and compare.

I like your thinking... I might just do that. I just wanted to see if anyone has ever attempted and succeeded..

Re: 12si swap to 10si(internally)
The rear housing containing the rectifier should be reused as 100 amp output needs the heavier diodes. the rear half will bolt up to the 10si front housing but you should just change the bearing if that is all that is wrong with it. the bearing is the same in both models or you could buy a new one. the bearing is number 6203 they only cost a few dollars.
