End of run 71’

Anybody have info on 71 C10. I have a a 72 C10 LWB or family owned.
I recently found out it is actually a 71 that was produced at end of run with factory air. The purpose was to get on dealer showrooms to for release of 72 with factory air. I am wondering how many were produced. I was told less than 500. If so, I assume mine may be very rare. Getting ready to start total restoration. I was planning on restroom mod. But if it is a sole survivor I will have to do complete factory restoration. All matching numbers and original as it sets. Just beat up from years of work. Any info would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum. The story you tell doesn't sound right to me at all. Factory air was an option for all years of these trucks. I assume yours is a fleet side, which 206313 were produced.

Re: End of run 71’

If it's a '71 (evidenced by cab, doors, etc.) as a '72 that is possible, but it would have nothing to do with the A/C.

What they said, and of course pics are welcome and helpful. FWIW, early '72s were built in 1971 --my '72 was built in August 1971.

Re: End of run 71’

As great, fun and interesting as these trucks are....one thing they are not is rare. There were literally 100's of thousands of them made.
If it had factory a/c..that was available as an 'in-dash' system for years...probably back to '64 or '65 I think.
If it is a factory '71 or '72 Cheyenne Super, short box, fleetside, with a 402 BB, posi, a/c, tilt, am-fm,, bucket seats and cruise control....then it is certainly more rare than the others.

Post up some pics when you get a chance and we can take a look at this thing and help you out.

All good

Re: End of run 71’

Could it be that your late '71 is a Cheyenne Super, which was a late year introduction, and most people think they all came with a/c? Still not a one of 500 anything. Give more info and pictures. What's for sure right now is you were misled by someone who doesn't know these trucks like we do. We can set it all straight, I guarantee.

Not rare at all. Build it however you want if you plan on keeping it. If you just want to resell it like most everyone else, leave it alone, double the price from whatever you paid, and try to send it on down the road.
