Trans/T-case Questions

Hello, I have been doing research on the automatic 73-87 trans/t-case setups. Attached is the information I have gathered. The only part I'm not sure on is the output shaft stickout length for the 700R4. I read that it sticks out 2" further than the TH350 to the NP203/NP205. Just seeing if the information I found is accurate. Thanks

Re: Trans/T-case Questions

You planning a swap? Not sure if this helps, but went from a a 700r4 with NP208 to a TH400 with NP208 and the length was essentially the same. I assumed I was going to need drive shaft work, but the old one fit just fine.

Re: Trans/T-case Questions

I'm not really doing a swap... I'm building a crew cab from the main pieces (the cab, front clip, and frame/axles; no engine/trans/t-case on the frame). I have a 400 engine for my crew cab, but looking at getting a TH400/NP208 combo for it. I have a 2WD TH400 HD trans, but obviously the output shaft is different than the 4WD. Might have this combo soon at my place; awaiting reply for the guy who has the combo.

I just wanted to have these measurements on hand in case I do need them for the future. The only one I didn't find directly was the 700R4 output shaft
stick out length. I attached a pic of what I'm looking for (trans is aTH350 pictured; need measurement for 700R4). Thanks

Re: Trans/T-case Questions

Might even be more then 2 inches. You can probably measure the thickness of the th350 to np203 adapter which is like 3/4 inch thick and minis that off how ever thick the 700r4 to np208 adapter. Not quite sure if that would be accurate thougn

Re: Trans/T-case Questions

Yeah I was just looking for the stick out length on the 700R4 attached to an NP208. I read you need a 2" spacer to be able to use a 700R4 with a NP203 or NP205, so I assumed take whatever the length of the output shaft on the TH350 is and just add 2" on to it. So I came up with 2 7/8". Thanks
