1967-72 Chevy C30 Marmon Herrington 4x4 conversions

Hello all, I'm new to the list but have been reading posts for years. My current project is trying to find a Marmon Herrington converted C30 or images to help with the conversion of a C30 Longhorn to haul a large sled dog box. The '73 Silverbook had a centerspread (I think) if anyone has it. My copy went missing. In the '74 Silverbook only a small fragment similar to shown. Any pictures, thoughts or advice would be very welcome. Thought long and hard about a K20, but I really want the 7200lb rear axle and the longer bed. Pictures below show the clip (with a left drop axle) and a similar box to the size we want but with a sleeper section added on the front.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: 1967-72 Chevy C30 Marmon Herrington 4x4 conversions

Hi Tim,now you're talking my language. I have the 67,72,and 74 Silver Book. The '67 doesn't even list front drives in the index, but has a page for Napco. The '74 book shows the same page you have. The '72 has a page with a light duty picture. Unfortunately I don't have a scanner and could only snap a camera shot. I hope this helps.

Re: 1967-72 Chevy C30 Marmon Herrington 4x4 conversions

Really appreciate the help. The pictures from the '72 silverbook are interesting in that it's actually a HD axle (MC-9 9000#?) on a cart, rolled under a C30. So are the joys of marketing pictures! The pictures I'm looking for show more of the '69-70 C30 stake truck they used in their literature for several years.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: 1967-72 Chevy C30 Marmon Herrington 4x4 conversions

Wow, Just made a little reference to the MH converted C30s this morning and the counter is again spinning on a year and a half old thread. Since this was first posted I have found some of my original reference pictures and collected a number of NAPCO C30 pictures as well. Shortly I will update this post to keep it all together. However for those who cannot wait, run over to my site www.rusticshadessiberians.com/trucks as some of the pictures are there.

Re: 1967-72 Chevy C30 Marmon Herrington 4x4 conversions

OR HERE , Now that is just too funny. I was looking at another of Ken's trucks a couple of years ago. It was a GMC 5500 NAPCO ex-tree spade truck turned wrecker. Interesting SPID with HD everything, just couldn't swing the truck and the transportation to CA. Driving that V6 beast probably would have been in the gallons per mile range anyway. As to the Ford thanks but no. Really don't want another medium duty truck right now.

I didn't see this back in August. Those links showed nothing for me,but here are pics I've had for quite a few years:

Thanks Tim! Have those but here are some more you likely don't have. The links were for two trucks for sale a Ford and a later Chevrolet. The linked Chevy was offered by the same guy who had the od green/red wrecker for sale.

Wow. No idea what I'd ever do with one, but somehow I want one! I think a Duramax or late-model medium duty truck motor would wake it up.

I'm also starting to get a soft spot for old military trucks. Heck, I've even drive one of those old tandem-axle Mercedes parade cars if it didn't make me look like a Nazi! There's just something about "heavier duty than you need it to be" that I like.

Re: 1967-72 Chevy C30 Marmon Herrington 4x4 conversions

Dave, If you even think you want to do this buy the C60 Napco off eBay for parts like Special-K has advised and grab the C50 posted yesterday in the board classifieds. They together would make a great start. Now that would be a motorhome chassis to haul your kids in! Say a 14-20' body depending on the chassis maybe a stepframe conversion vs lift blocks.
