Re: My first project truck - 84 Chevy swb

Back to the gas mileage issue guys.. With working not too close to home and college next year, my 84 with 9.4 mpg just isnt the daily driver i need.. I hate to do this but i cant have two vehicles at this point.. Its hard enough on me and i know ill regret it and miss it more than anything, so please don't remind me.. But of course im staying CHEVY!
The new daily driver is a yellow (yes yellow) 2001 Chevrolet Silverado Single Cab Short bed with a 5.3 v8, which i have much plans for in the future. Will post pictures tomorrow in the 99-06 section.

Good luck man. Don't let people give you too hard of a time. It's easy to sit in our position, and tell you not to sell it. I've had plenty of things that I wish I could have done differently. However, life doesn't always go exactly how we want it. Do what you need to do, and enjoy the new ride. Look at it this way. You're going to give the new owner a great truck that they can enjoy, and you get a new canvas to work with on the yellow truck.

By the way! Where are the pics of the new truck?

That's a hard truck to find (single cab 5.3). They just didn't put very many 5.3 engines in the single cabs. If they did, I can't find them. I have looked around here some time and most either have 4.3 six or 4.8 v-8. Anyway, you need to do what you need to do. Pictures????

Their definitely arent too many around, when we found this one the price was too good to pass, so i jumped on it. And thanks guys, heres some crappy cell phone pics. Needs some body work, overall its in good shape, runs very good, and only 130k miles. Most we found had 190k+..

So how come you just dont keep it? You dont have a payment on it other then insurance I'm guessing and actually you could get multi car discount, plus no regret for selling your first truck like I do.

Man, That is great looking truck! Hard to find with fewer than 200k is true too. BTW, these trucks will go way over 300k if you take care of them. Usually the tranny fails long before the engine.

Re: My first project truck - 84 Chevy swb

I have sold alot of cars and trucks over the years i regret getting rid of, but i always find something else to bandaid the wound and peak my interest. Looking forward to the new build the yellow truck has alot of potential.

Re: My first project truck - 84 Chevy swb

You just need to try a different angle with your dad. He's a sympathetic car guy. If you convince him just right that the truck will appreciate in time you may have a case

The yellow truck looks good man. Definitely won't lose it in a parking lot
